Recently the CIC Purchasing Consortium (CICPC) amended its Master Agreement with OfficeMax for office products in order to create a new partnering arrangement that adds even greater value through cost savings to its members and other higher education institutions across the country.

New CIC Data Reveals University Research Impacts Local, State, and National Economies

We know that knowledge is transferred from the university to the marketplace through the people that are trained in academic settings, and who then move into other businesses and sectors. Our research demonstrates that a large portion of those PhD recipients we studied stay in the state where they received their education, and earn higher wages than the national average. This adds an important dimension to our understanding of the ways in which research universities impact their surrounding communities and the nation at large.

CIC CLI Director Mark Sandler to Retire

Mark Sandler, Director of the CIC Center for Library Initiatives, has announce his retirement effective February 29, 2016. Now entering his tenth year of service to the CIC and its 15 member universities, Dr. Sandler also served for 20 years on the staff of the University of Michigan Library.

CIC and ACM Awarded $8.1 Million Grant from Andrew W. Mellon Foundation

The Committee on Institutional Cooperation (CIC) and the Associated Colleges of the Midwest (ACM) will share an $8.1 million grant from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. The fourteen colleges and universities of the ACM and the fifteen research universities of the CIC will participate in the seven-year initiative, called the Undergraduate and Faculty Fellows Program for a Diverse Professoriate.

International Research Workshop Explores Non-Coding RNAs in Chronic Disease

Biomedical researchers at CIC universities along with researchers affiliated with CAPES Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior), a unit within Brazil’s Ministry of Education, will delve into current research on microRNAs and non-coding RNAs on April 30-May 2nd at an international research workshop held at The Ohio State University.
