University of Nebraska-Lincoln Chancellor Harvey S. Perlman challenged the institution's faculty to make the most out of the opportunities provided by UNL's pending entry into the CIC, the Lincoln Journal Star reported in its March 18 editions.
Perlman gave an overview of academic impact of UNL joining the Big Ten athletic conference in an address on March 17. "I think the challenges on the academic side of the institution and the opportunities on the academic side of the institution are equally great," he said.
The paper also paraphrased Perlman saying that entering the CIC will challenge UNL to improve its academic endeavors, and also that it will be up to faculty to find new ways to use existing resources.
The University of Nebraska-Lincoln will join the CIC on July 1, 2011, the same date it becomes a member of the Big Ten athletic conference. For more on UNL and the CIC, please visit www.cic.net/nebraska.
