Erickson, Allen featured in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel

CIC Chair Rodney A. Erickson, executive vice president and provost of Pennsylvania State University, and Director Barbara McFadden Allen, were featured in a recent article printed in the May 16 edition of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

The article addresses the history of the Big Ten Conference and its relationship to the CIC, its academic counterpart. Erickson reflects on the significance, both athletic and academic, of Penn State joining the CIC and the Big Ten in 1990.

"When we sit down, there is always a kind of competitiveness," Erickson told the Journal Sentinel. "We want our own and our sister universities in the Big Ten to become even more outstanding universities and to become leaders in the academic world."

The article also described the work of the CIC, and how its members collaborate.

"Together, we save money, solve problems, share assets and build opportunity for faculty and researchers," Allen told the paper.
