Spring Meetings Update

Mar 11, 2020, 13:00 PM

The Big Ten Academic Alliance has been closely monitoring the rapidly evolving COVID-19 situation and our member universities’ responses. In recent days, a number of Big Ten universities have limited non-essential travel, discouraged staff from participating in group meetings, and/or moved all classes online.

After consulting with the Big Ten Academic Alliance Provosts’ Executive Committee, we have decided to cancel all Big Ten Academic Alliance face-to-face meetings through May 1st. Our staff will work with meeting organizers to develop productive virtual meeting formats or make alternate arrangements. Similarly, staff will work with organizers on the cancellation of meeting room reservations, catering contracts, hotel blocks, etc., and in communicating with group members about these changes. On or before April 17th, in consultation with the Provosts, we will determine whether to resume meetings on May 1st or extend the cancellation period.

My apologies for the disruption this causes to you and your group, but ensuring the health and safety of those we serve is our highest priority. Be assured that the collaboration will continue. Our goal is to find new ways to continue the important work we do together in the safest, most supportive way possible during these unusual and challenging times.

Best,

Keith Marshall, Ph.D.
