An article in the Winter 2010 issue of ¿Que Pasa, OSU? magazine examines CIC programs and efforts that help Latino and other underrepresented minorities overcome barriers to success in higher education groups.
The article, "Building a Community : An Examination of Latinos and Diversity at OSU and in the Midwest" cites SROP (Summer Research Opportunities Program), which provides faculty-mentored research experiences to underrepresented students with the goal of increasing access to graduate education; the CIC's support and facilitation of peer groups for ethnic studies faculty; and CourseShare, the CIC's electronic distance learning collaboration that increases access to specialized and low-enrollment courses.
The article was written by Yolanda Zepeda, CIC associate director of academic and international programs.
